Lisa and I have been traveling since we first met.
We love short trips, driving to Byron for chili or to Lake Geneva for an excellent Bloody Mary (who ever invented Beef Stick straws is a genius).
Regardless of the destination, we have always enjoyed each others company along the way.
Whether we have Pandora playing in the background, or are just enjoying our own lively conversation, (no politics, never politics) we have always been game for a quick stop at some off the beaten path place that sounds interesting. What the heck, you never know unless you look, right?
Hence, Taking the Back Road.
We started the site to share with our friends our adventures on the road. Just in case you were wondering, if your reading this you are our friends, whether you like it or not, don’t even try to fight it.
We are planning a week long trip through Wisconsin and down through Michigan late this Spring. On this site, I will bore you with the gory details.

Hey Folks,
My son, Sean, says I need to add a post area, a blog area, so basically an area of which I know nothing of.
I guess it is official I have gotten old. I’ve been in computers so long I can still remember how to list a directory on an Apple II diskette (catalog,d1) but I’m not really comfortable with the “blog” area so…we are going to learn this together.
Lisa and I really want to hear your comments, suggestions and additional thoughts on what we put up on this site. I’ve heard said “The day you stop listening is the day you stop learning” – huh, I guess, after querying the web, this is my original quote. I kinda like it.
So, all that being said, click on comment below (I think that’s how it’s done), and give us your comments! Tells us what we missed, what you liked about our post or the place we posted about. The more info the better. Most have all have some fun, that’s what this is all about.
